Rust en Vrede's Estate Wine was chosen as one of the US Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines for the fourth year in a row, the only South African estate, and one of few in the world, ever to achieve this. With this treble affirmation, it is becoming clear that Rust en Vrede's Estate Wine is, by international peer review, South Africa's leading blended red wine.

|
The only gold winner from South Africa at San Fransisco's 22nd International Wine Competition. No mean feat considering 3810 wines were judged. The Cab Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot were vinified separately and left to mature in 300 L French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The wine was then blended and bottled and left to mature another 18 months. An intense, almost black colour. The nose opens with an initial earthiness that reveals an array of berry flavours with a hint of eucalyptus. Rich, full-bodied and complex character provide a delicate and refined chewy and savoury palate that finishes with a pleasant lingering aftertaste of roasted almonds. Truly a wine with finesse. |
